I forgot to mention that besides being given preference by search engines blogs are easier to create using blogging software. There are many templates to chose from and thousands of plugins are designed by some webmasters to make your life of managing blogsites much easier.
My personal bias is for wordpress because the software (though slightly a different version) is also available on web hosting sites and when you advance to a paid web hosting, you can still use the same knowledge you gained from the the free wordpress. You have to weigh this with the power of google that backs up the blogger.
Step A
Opena a new window on your browser, delete the current address and paste the following and press enter:
Click on the top right hand corner on signup now.
Step B Account
Fill up any username and password, password again that you can easily remember.
Next fill up the same google email address you created earlier.
Check the legal flotsam and click Next.
If the username is taken then keep changing it until you are accepted. Open a word document and have a habit of saving your username and password.
Step C – Blog Name
Next put in the blog domain as per your exercise sheet in step 2 (eg. artofwebtraffic)
Next type in your Blog Title with spaces (eg. Art of Web Traffic)
If you are not successful with the domain name then then just put dashes (eg. art-of-web-traffic)
Your blog is now ready for input of content. Copy down your address in my case eg. http://art-of-web-traffic.wordpress.com
Click on the blog vame and it will bring you to your public view of the blogsite.
On the right hand side you will see a Site Admin’. At other times when you are not logged in it will show ‘Log in’
Click on site admin and you will enter a Dashboard.
STEP E – First Post
Click on 1 post and you will see ‘hello world’
Click on ‘hello world’ and you can start editing your very first blog. The title hello world should be changed to your product and blog title (eg Art of Web Traffic)
Cut and paste your introduction or conclusion from your worksheet document in Step 2. Once you happy with the content, go to the right hand side of your screen and click on publish.
Congrats you have created your very first post on your Blogsite.
Step F – Create 10 Categories
Now go to the left hand side of the Dashboard and under the title ‘Post’ click on ‘Categories’
You type in the title of your first sub heading in you Step 2 worksheet and click ‘add new catergory’
Repeat the process above until you have created and published all your 10 categories.
Step G – Posts
Now go to the left hand side of the Dashboard and under the title ‘Post’ click on ‘Add New’. Type in the title the same as the first subheading and then copy and paste the content in the space provided below. Even if you have no content, simple go to the right hand side box on categories and check the box on the same title category.
Click on ’publish’ on the right hand side.
Repeat this process of creating new posts until you complete all 10 subheading and put them in the appropriate categories
Congrats you now have a blogsite with 11 posts.
